Meet with Me

A job search coach is in your corner

You are amazing, but it can take a little polishing to make sure everyone can see that!
Sometimes all it takes is ONE meeting to jumpstart your job search.

Below are some common reasons women need help from a job search coach:

  • HELP, I’m unemployed! Where do I start?
  • My resume needs a review
  • I’ve been looking for a job for a while with no results
  • I’m getting some interviews but no job offers
  • I’m exploring a career change, where do I start?
  • Is this new degree or certificate worth it?
  • I’m returning to the workforce after a break
  • I know I need to network but don’t know how
  • I’m a trailing spouse, how do I find a job in my new location?

Scheduling: I live in Portland, Oregon so my appointments are available 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Pacific Time. If you have a special need that doesn’t fit that time frame, just send me an email.

Is a Job Search Coach for You?

If you are not getting the results you want, then the answer is a resounding YES. Or, if you are just getting started, have a lot of questions, and are unsure about the right path forward, then also YES.

An experienced job search coach is like a trusted guide who can help you get over the many barriers that might prevent you from getting a great job, faster. These barriers are very individual, which is why it’s hard to find a boilerplate program that helps everyone.

An experienced coach can also help you avoid pitfalls like people who tell you to ALWAYS do this and NEVER do that. There are many exceptions to the rules, but you have to know which ones you can bend, and how.

An experienced coach can also help you to identify and communicate your transferable skills if you are switching careers or industries. It’s more of a challenge to make a pivot, but it’s absolutely possible.

Working with me can bring you clarity and confidence which will make you much more successful. Many women struggle with confidence as they search for jobs, which impacts how they write resumes and how they interview. If you understand these barriers it is much easier to overcome them.

I have a warm, approachable style, and an action-oriented approach. You will NEVER feel judged.

Many women find that one or two appointments are all they need to truly jump-start their job search, but I offer discounts for future sessions if we meet more often. See below for options and pricing.

I have a generous cancellation policy because I know that life happens. If you DO make an appointment you may cancel for any reason up until 12 hours before our meeting and get a full refund, and if you have to cancel at the last minute you may get a 50% refund.

What we can discuss in a Resume Review

  • Is this the right resume format?
  • How do I get my resume past the Applicant Tracking Systems/ATS/resume robots?
  • Are my skills listed properly on my resume?
  • Do I need to make my resume look “fancier”?
  • What do I do about my references?
  • I have other things like projects or volunteer work, how do I include them?
  • What are the best fonts to use?
  • Should I submit my resume as a PDF or a Word document?
  • How many versions of my resume do I need?

What we can discuss in a LinkedIn Profile Review

  • What should my profile picture look like?
  • What do I say in the Headline?
  • What do I include in my Experience sections?
  • Should I upload my resume to LinkedIn?
  • What skills do I list? Do I need Endorsements?
  • Should I add media to my Profile? How do I do that?
  • How important is the About section and what do I put there?
  • What else can LinkedIn do for my job search?
  • How do I decide what to write?

These broader goals are better suited to a Power Hour

  • Creating a complete job search strategy.
  • Detailed instructions on how and why to write cover letters, plus how to use other types of job search emails.
  • Exploring several certificates and grad programs, with pros and cons.
  • Interview coaching or a mock interview.
  • Detailed restructuring of your resume to accommodate a career break.
  • In-depth review of how to use LinkedIn to make connections and find opportunities.
  • Strategies to find hidden jobs.
  • How to find people who can help you get your foot in the door.
  • How to negotiate salary/compensation.

Learn more about Ongoing Job Search Coaching

My goal is to get you the help you need as efficiently as possible. Sometimes you will get what you need in just one or two sessions if you are making a simple change into a similar job. However, sometimes a job search is a bit more complicated.

For many job seekers, accountability is a big obstacle. Regularly scheduled appointments can help you to stay on track, and get your “homework” done in between sessions.

If it makes sense to meet regularly for a while, we can discuss your specific situation.

If you have an outplacement or relocation career support lump sum available, please contact me and we can talk about your options.
